Our First Experience

The first time we encountered the marine phytoplankton was from Tom Harper's farm but another company had exclusive rights for awhile. We made some very significant changes during the first two months on the product.

We began seeing dramatic changes in my nails and Glen's hair. I damaged my two large toe nails many years ago and they never grew back properly. After being on this particular phytoplankton, they began straightening out.

Glen had been losing hair and graying for some years but that seemed to be changing, new hair coming in and color coming back in.

According to Dr. Weil, "Silica is silicon dioxide, a trace mineral found in bones, teeth, skin, eyes, glands and organs. It's also a major constituent of collagen, which helps keep skin elastic. Additionally, silica works with calcium to maintain bone strength."

But, Dr. Weil also indicates, "Although silica supplements are being widely promoted for the prevention of osteoporosis, I know of no research demonstrating that they actually help increase bone density or prevent bone loss. Similarly, I know of no evidence showing that silica supplements benefit hair or nails. Aside from any scientific information, we were definitely seeing some positive changes.

I mentioned my toe nails to my brother-in-law, Carl, and he looked at me sort of funny and then looked at one of his nails on his hands. He realized that his nail that he had damaged playing hard ball was returning to normal. It had been damaged for three years. He concluded that it may well be the Marine Phytoplankton nutrients that are contributing to this new growth.

Now, here's what happened after two months; the changes having to do with the hair and nails slowed down. I realized this was probably due to the huge variety of plankton and they have seasons just like the plants on land.

A large portion of these Marine Phytoplankton were Diatoms - Phylum, Bacillariophyceae. The Diatom cell wall is made of silica and pectin. I am assuming that their season was over for awhile and that was all we were going to receive of whatever nutrition they provided for our hair and nails.

We did go off the products after that until we found these new products coming on the market. I have not tested these products as intently as I did when we first encountered it. I continue to test other foods for similar affects on the hair and nails. But that was the most significant experience so far.

This Marine Phytoplankton is a food and it seems to be easily absorbed by the body. If you end up trying this food, I'd like to hear if it affects your hair or nails. Please let me know. I am curious.
